Tsuga heterophylla Pinaceae (Pine Family)
This gorgeous evergreen is found from Alaska south to Southern Washington at low to mid elevations. It is not to be mistaken as the poisonous Hemlock plant as they are very different.
Native Americans had a wide variety of uses for this tree and all its parts. The bark, inner bark, needles and sap/resin are all used for our benefit in various ways. It can be used internally or externally.
Tsuga oil from the Western Hemlock is anti microbial and is known as a balancing oil that helps stimulate, uplift, focus and calm. Twin Mountain Botanicals focus is on its external use and use it in our Deep Tissue Salve.
